How To Turn Automatic Book Updates On Kindle On

September 30, 2019 by Nora Leave a Comment

Readers email or message me regularly when they’ve found a typo or mistake in one of my books. This is much appreciated by the way! But it happens often that it’s a typo I already fixed in an updated version of the book, but they still have the old version on their Kindle. So today will be a super practical blog post on how you can turn automatic book updates on your Kindle on.

If you turn automatic book updates on you will automatically receive the most recent version of a book. But, and this is important, if you do that, you can lose all your bookmarks, comments, highlights, etc. To prevent that, make sure that you have “Whispersync for books” or “Annotations backup” enabled on all your devices, including the Kindle reading app on your phone or tablet. Do this before you turn auto updates on.

Turn Automatic Book Updates On

On your computer, go to your Amazon account, then choose “Content and Devices” and choose “Preferences”. About halfway through the list there’s an option that says “Automatic Book Updates”. Turn that on (or off if you don’t want auto updates). Done!

It really is that simple, but a lot of readers don’t know about it, so I hope this was helpful!
