Sorry, we missed a poll (and a newsletter and the weekly deals…) last week. I was unwell and had to take a few days rest. But we’re back!
Let’s look at the last poll we did first. the question was: “How do you feel about Christmas/holiday themed romances?” and here’s what you guys had to say:
It’s clear that they’re still popular, though in moderation, it seems. I kinda feel the same way.I love them, but after five or so, it’s been enough, haha.
Here’s this week’s question: “What’s your preferred age for main characters in gay romance?” For the sake of this poll, let’s exclude age gap romances because otherwise it would get too complicated. I’m super curious to hear what you think!
[crowdsignal poll=10453772]
Really, any age but the very young (18-24); a little bit off that angst goes a long way for me. Guess my age is showing:)
That age group is usually not my fave, but I’ve read some awesome books with characters that young, so it really comes down to the author and the story.
I had to pick one, but for me I have no age preference, it’s all about the story. Everybody has a story to tell, so bring them on, whatever the age!
I second that!
I feel the same. As long as the author does it well, age doesn’t matter to me (not underage, obviously, at least not for the kind of stuff I read, LOL)
I picked one but don’t really have a preference. However, I do wish there were more 40+ books out there.
I agree. I love those.
I took 35 – 40 but I would pick 40+ too, because I really don´t like the very young charakters with their childish problems.
Besides, at the moment every author seems to write about daddy-kink.
Well, as someone who absolutely loves daddy kink, I don’t object to the latter, but I totally understand it if people aren’t in to it. To each his own, and I will never fault someone fr what they like or don’t like. But I’ll admit I love older characters, both to read about and to write.
While I do like daddy kink (and there is a lot out there recently), I think there is a dearth of stories about mature, over-40, men. Many stories hit a sweet spot with characters in their 30s, but I’m on the hunt for silver foxes!
We definitely need more stories with older men, and not just age gap and daddy kink stories.
I do notice grammar mistakes, but if the story is good I can easily ignore them. If the story is just okay, then the grammar bothers me more. I agree with the age 30-40 + , but a good story and interesting characters counts most.
I tried to answer your question about grammar/punctuation/typos and how important it is to me but cannot find anywhere to vote on this. Just to say that to me it is very important and badly written books, even if the storyline is good, drive me nuts! I think this is something young people don’t really care about, in my experience most of the young people that worked for me didn’t have a clue how to spell and didn’t understand if something was grammatically right or not. Just my opinion but it just grates.
I’m sorry, that was my mistake. I put the wrong link in the newsletter. Here’s the link to the poll: https://www.noraphoenix.com/weekly-poll-22-nov/
