The wonderful thing about traveling again is that it gives me more time to read. I love reading on a plane. I put my noise canceling headphones on with some relaxed background music or noises, and then I just read…
And since I happened to pick some awesome books to read, it’s time for another edition of Nora’s Mini Reviews! (all links are affiliate links)
Bossy – N.R. Walker
It’s no secret I’m a huge fan on N.R. Walker. I love how diverse her books are in terms of setting, plot, themes, and subgenre. No matter what she writes, I love it, and Bossy was no exception. This is a high heat, sexy, and feel-good story about two men who connect while hooking up and decide to keep meeting each other for sex. Until feelings get in the way…
The Boy Who Loved Wicked – C.P. Harris
I’m a sucker for age gap stories, and I love student-teacher romances, so The Boy Who Loved Wicked was a no brainer anyway, but gah, this book is good. I love this author’s writing style which is understated, a little poetic and dreamy, and just sucks you right in. All the feels and a very happy ending, and as a bonus some cool philosophical musings.
Lucien – Silvia Violet
You ever wonder why in hindsight you waited so long with reading a book? That’s how I feel about Lucien. For some reason, I didn’t read it when it came out, but that was clearly a mistake, haha. I loved this dark mafia romance between a mob boss and a rather innocent boy, which has a very happy ending and some super sexy scenes. Can’t wait to read the next one.
Blood – A.J. Sherwood and Jocelynn Drake
I’ve raved before about Origin, the first book in this series, and by now, I’ve read book two, three, and four as well, and this series is still amazing. It’s got humor, action, dragons, fun, spell casters (mages), sexy times, romance, and a great sense of found family. Blood is book four and is Ravi’s story, and he’s by far my favorite, this mischievous wind dragon who loves pulling pranks. Can’t wait to read more in this series.
Have you read any of these? Which one was your favorite? And what was a recent book you read that you absolutely loved?
“Bossy” is a wonderful read and I, too, always read N.R. Walker’s stories as soon as they’re released. I also have several of her audiobooks.
I find A.J. Sherwood’s books chock-full of humor; my favorites are the “Jon” stories. Psychics who work with the police and love their boyfriends/partners? These books are an auto-buy for me, along with the audiobooks. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve listened to the first 2 books this series. Whenever I’m having a bad day, they’re my go-to listen. (Kenneth Obi narrated the first book and did such a brilliant job with each character 😢)
A recent book I read and loved? Hmmm. I might have to list a couple.
“Dirty Forty” by Mia Monroe; longtime best friends to lovers. (Also gay for you, though I don’t like that term as it seems pan sexual would be a better designation …. let’s not push people into sexuality boxes, right?)
“Love Limits” by Reese Morrison; deaf characters, asexual character. All of Reese’s books are marvelous and her descriptions of the various languages, used by the Deaf community, have opened my eyes to many things. I appreciate it when an author educates me while giving me a terrific story.
I always enjoy your newsletters, your recommendations, and your stories 💜
No, I haven’t read these, though I do have Blood and will read it at dome point. For some reason I found the previous books to be a little slow. I highly recommend The Jock by Tal Bauer, a College Football romance. I wasn’t expecting much from this book – I’ve read a lot of sports romance, but I should have known better. It’s seriously one of the best books I’ve ever read!
I recently (this spring) discovered your novels and have enjoyed a number of them. I visited your website to learn more about your works. I was happy to see that you maintain this blog (rather than only share thoughts via Facebook) and also post mini-reviews about other lgbtq+ MC romance novels. I figured I’d probably discover new novels/authors I like via your book recommendations–and I have! I’ve found many new authors via your mini-reviews. (Bossy was so low angst and fun–it was a joy to read.) Thanks so much!
I’m a huge fan of AJ Sherwood. I love her and Jocelyn Drake’s Dragons series. I’m also a fan of Jocelyn’s and Rinda Elliott’s “Ward Security” books. She has a new one “ Wicked Outlaw”, which I LOVED. Wicked Outlaw is set in Texas on a ranch, so if you like sexy cowboys, gay for you, (or bi or pan) intrigue and action plus all the shmoopy emotions, plus good hot sex, you’ll enjoy this one! Then you can go back and read all of the books before that one. I also enjoying her “Weavers” series, and there is a new one out there as well. Keeping it all in that family this week so far!!
