Nora Reviews: Four Recent Reads (Sept. 6)

I took the whole month of August off to travel cross country with my son, and I had a lot of time to read. And boy, did I read some great MM romances! Here’s a first batch of mini reviews from those recent reads, just a few lines about what made me love that book so much.

Vespertine – Leta Blake and Indra Vaughn

Vespertine is a fantastic friends to lovers romance with a slight taboo element because one of the guys is a priest. This aspect is treated with a lot of respect, by the way, in no way making light of his faith. It’s deeply emotional, and I found myself rooting for them all the time. Feel good ending with all the feels. Loved it.

Wild – Adrienne Wilder

A model finds himself in the Alaskan wilderness after a plane crash and is rescued by a man who made his home there to escape his past…and some really bad people. The romance in Wild is slow and sweet and hot at the same time, their fight against nature is nail-biting, and the mix of realism and romance kept me up reading until I’d finished the book. A wild, highly satisfying ride.

Daddy Issues – Lynn van Dorn

Daddy Issues was a book I’d been looking forward to a long time, and it was everything I expected it to be. Deeply emotional, sexy as hell, and all the feels. Damaged but successful Ryan meets his match in dominant nurse Marek who shows him the beauty of surrender…and of being loved. No daddy kink, if the title made you think that. You don’t need to read Damage Control (the first book in this series) first, but I would, because it’s so damn good.

Looking for Trouble – Misha Horne

Looking for Trouble is the mother of all slow burns, and boy, did I want to slap their heads together at times, haha. Set in the pioneer past, it’s a tale of the wild west, with a reckless hothead who’s rescued by a honest-to-god cowboy. It takes Jesse and Will a long time to figure out what they need from each other (hint: discipline…of the old-fashioned kind), but when they do, it’s ten kinds of perfect. Nobody does spankings like Misha Horne, I swear.
